Early on Friday morning, an unconditional ceasefire was reached between the Israeli government and Hamas terrorists after days of violence in the region.

As Reuters reported, “Israel and Hamas will cease fire across the Gaza Strip border as of Friday, the Palestinian Islamist faction and Egyptian state TV.” The Associated Press reported, “Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said Israel accepted the Egyptian proposal after a late-night meeting of his Security Cabinet. Hamas quickly followed suit and said it would honor the deal.”

The ceasefire wasn’t enough for outspoken pro-Palestinian activist, Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), however, who implied that Israel was guilty of crimes against humanity and that the U.S. is failing to “end the occupation.”

“We should all be grateful that a ceasefire will prevent more civilians and children from being killed,” Omar tweeted. “But now what? We need accountability for every war crime committed. And we need to stop underwriting crimes against humanity while doing nothing to end the occupation.”

Tlaib, the first Palestinian-American woman elected to Congress, mimicked Omar’s claims, while also labeling Israel as an “apartheid” state.

“A ceasefire is necessary, but will not alone achieve freedom, justice, and equality for all who live under Israel’s apartheid government,” Tlaib tweeted. “The U.S. must condition funding to uphold human rights, and end the funding entirely if those conditions are not met.”

Throughout the recent conflict, which began after Palestinians targeted Jewish civilians in Jerusalem during a riot, after which Hamas launched hundreds of rockets from Gaza toward Israel, both Omar and Tlaib ignored the actions of terrorist organizations in Palestinian territories, while condemning Israel for their defensive actions.

After Israel responded to a barrage of rockets fired by Hamas targeting Jewish civilians, Omar instead argued in favor of the Palestinian people’s right to self-defense.

“Many will tell you Israel has a right to defend itself, to safety and security, but are silent on whether Palestinians have those rights too,” Omar tweeted on March 10. “Until we can defend the rights of Palestinians just as we do Israelis, we have no leg to stand on when it comes to justice or peace.”

On May 15, after an Israeli airstrike destroyed a building reportedly occupied by both journalist outlets and Hamas, Tlaib pushed the conspiracy theory that the journalists were deliberately targeted to hide “Israel’s war crimes.”

“Israel targeting media sources is so the world can’t see Israel’s war crimes led by the apartheid-in-chief Netanyahu,” Tlaib claimed without evidence. “It’s so the world can’t see the killing of babies, children and their parents.”

“It’s so the world can’t see Palestinians being massacred,” Tlaib added, ironically retweeting a report that Israeli military had warned the occupants of the building to evacuate prior to the airstrike.

As reported by The Daily Wire, since the violence broke out, “Palestinian terrorists had fired approximately 4,340 rockets at Israel, with nearly 650 failing and falling inside of Gaza. Israel’s Iron Dome intercepted an estimated 90% of the remaining rockets that were launched.”

This article has been corrected to note that Tlaib is the first Palestinian-American woman in Congress, not the first Palestinian-American in Congress.
