Congressman Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) predicted that the effects would be disastrous if Republicans were to win control of Congress in November, claiming that anything from “violence” to “civil war” was possible.
Bowman, during a weekend appearance on MSNBC’s “The Cross Connection,” argued that Republicans would likely impeach President Joe Biden as soon as possible if they gained control of Congress.

Host Tiffany Cross began by asking whether or not Bowman believed it was possible for Republicans to gain control of the House in November, and if they did so, what would happen to the Democrat-driven January 6th Committee and anything it uncovered in the ongoing hearings.
“And what might the GOP do — or not do — with their newly-claimed power?” Cross asked.
“So, the January 6th Commission would cease to exist,” Bowman began with the question about January 6th. “The findings would be completely suppressed and will not be admitted into any further investigations while the GOP will be in power.”
“They would impeach President Biden as quickly as possible, and they will continue to find ways to impeach him going forward,” Bowman continued, adding, “It would also embolden, uh, Republicans and the far-Right and white nationalists across the country to begin to believe that it is their time to not just take power in the House, but the Senate, the White House, and state houses across the country.”
Bowman went on to claim that the Republican Party had essentially been taken over by people who were “radicalized” and believed things like “the Great Replacement myth,” arguing that such radicalization would necessarily lead to Republicans condoning violence and even worse.
“And we gotta understand that this is a group that has been radicalized by the Great Replacement myth and many other things and have been pushing for violence and pushing for even civil war,” he said. “So that is what’s at stake right now in terms of this election.”
Townhall.com managing editor Spencer Brown responded to Bowman’s assertions, arguing that they betrayed a party with nothing substantive to run on in November’s midterms.
“Rep. Jamaal Bowman — a member of The Squad — is now threatening that “civil war” is “at stake” if Republicans win control of Congress in the midterms. When this is Dems’ case to voters, it’s clear they have nothing to run on,” he said.
