On Monday, responding to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) announcing last Friday that the Title 42 legislation which helped block the surge of illegal migration across the southern border would be terminated this coming Friday, Florida GOP Governor Ron DeSantis fired, “Joe Biden’s reckless border policies have allowed 2+ million foreigners to enter our country illegally via the southern border. Revoking Title 42 will supercharge the skyrocketing flow of illegal aliens, increasing drug, human and sex trafficking. This is a dereliction of duty!”

On Monday, Arizona, Louisiana, and Missouri announced they were suing to block the Biden administration’s termination of Title 42. They stated in the complaint, “This suit challenges an imminent, man-made, self-inflicted calamity: the abrupt elimination of the only safety valve preventing this administration’s disastrous border policies from devolving into an unmitigated catastrophe.”

Around 2.5 million illegal migrants have entered the United States since Biden was inaugurated, the New York Post noted, adding:

Already, charter flights to White Plains airport in Westchester have started again, after a hiatus following The Post’s report last October revealing migrant planes landing in the middle of the night several times a week and unloading hundreds of migrants, claimed to be children, to be spirited away on buses to locations around New York and neighboring states.

“U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced a record 1.7 million migrant encounters at the U.S.-Mexico border in 2021,” The Hill reported.

It’s not just the GOP that is furious about the termination of Title 42; Democratic Senator Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia as well as Democratic Senators Mark Kelly and Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona have condemned terminating Title 42.

Manchin stated, “Today’s announcement by the CDC and the Biden Administration is a frightening decision. Title 42 has been an essential tool in combatting the spread of COVID-19 and controlling the influx of migrants at our southern border. We are already facing an unprecedented increase in migrants this year, and that will only get worse if the Administration ends the Title 42 policy.”

Sinema echoed, “Prematurely ending Title 42 without a comprehensive, workable plan would put at risk the health and safety of Arizona communities and migrants. Today’s decision to announce an end to Title 42 despite not yet having a comprehensive plan ready shows a lack of understanding about the crisis at our border.”

Kelly added, “This is the wrong decision. It’s unacceptable to end Title 42 without a plan and coordination in place to ensure a secure, orderly, and humane process at the border. From my numerous visits to the southern border and conversations with Arizona’s law enforcement, community leaders, mayors, and non-profits, it’s clear that this administration’s lack of a plan to deal with this crisis will further strain our border communities.”
