Now that the CDC has relaxed mask guidelines for the vaccinated, feminist Jill Filipovic, as well as other leftists, have called for vaccine passports, possibly in the form of a QR code.
In a tweet early Friday, Fillipovic said that people who do not get vaccinated should not have the right to live their lives as normal.
“Vaccine passports (or QR codes) now! If you don’t want to get vaccinated, that’s your right. But it’s not your right to go to a concert, bar, restaurant, or large event,” she tweeted to her 156.6k followers.
“Should there be health exceptions? Yes! Should there be religious exceptions? No! Sorry, believe what you want, don’t get vaxxed if you don’t want to, but you are not actually entitled to see Celine Dion live,” she added.
Fillipovic was responding to a tweet from Julian Sanchez that said, “We could have secure, smartphone scannable immunization credentials instead of handwritten cards inside of a few weeks if the administration decided to push it.”

The concept of QR codes was brought up in response to CNN anchor Jake Tapper asking Dr. Anthony Fauci how exactly businesses in the United States would differentiate between the vaccinated and unvaccinated.
“How are restaurants, airlines, others, supposed to know if the people coming to their establishments [are vaccinated]?” asked Tapper.
“Well, Jake, they will not be able to know. You’re gonna be depending on people being honest enough to say whether they are vaccinated or not,” said Fauci.
People reacted favorably to Filipovic’s suggestion.
“People freaking out, as if a vaccine passport is some new scary thing. I’ve carried vaccination cards for decades. They’re required for entry to multiple countries,” said one user.

“Some folks have apparently never heard of a driver’s license. I have the right to know that the other people on the highway have some basic skill,” said another.

“My dog needs a tag from the city that proves she has all her vaccinations before she’s allowed to play at the dog park. Why can’t we do the same for humans?” said another.

“Australia has QR code’s [sic] they have to scan whenever they go in a public building for contract [sic] tracing purposes. But sadly, I don’t see people using/requiring those here for vaccine proof,” said another.

Others were less enthusiastic over Filipovic’s solution for unvaccinated people.
“It’s terrifying that someone can be so grossly authoritarian and insane in public, and people will actually agree with them. What the hell is wrong with you people, seriously,” said Travis Wester.

“The whole point of the CDC guidance was that vaccines protect the vaccinated. Ergo if someone doesn’t want one, that is literally their business. It has no effect whatsoever on your vaccinated self. Their body, their choice,” tweeted David Shane.

“I have very little time for anti-vaxxers…but this makes me extremely uncomfortable. I can’t get behind basically treating a bunch of people like second class citizens for not taking medicine they don’t feel safe with (despite how foolish I may think it its),” tweeted another user.
