Former Vice-President Mike Pence fired back at Vice-President Kamala Harris on Thursday night after Harris had sneered at Republicans who support the Supreme Court draft opinion that would overturn Roe v. Wade.
Harris snapped at the Republicans on Tuesday night, “’Those Republican leaders who are trying to weaponize the use of the law against women, well, we say ‘How dare they? How dare they tell a woman what she can do and cannot do with her own body? How dare they?’”
After noting that Harris “scolded the five justices on the Supreme Court listed in that draft opinion and Republican legislators in states across the country,” Pence fired back, “I say with the lives of 62 million unborn boys and girls ended in abortion since 1973, generations of mothers enduring heartbreak and loss that can last a lifetime: Madame Vice President, how dare you?”
“Make no mistake about it: Democrats and the radical Left will never stop pushing for more and extreme abortion-related policies as long as Roe is the law of the land,” Pence continued in his speech at South Carolina’s Carolina Pregnancy Center. “Democrat-run cities across America are now providing financial incentives for abortion, implementing paid leave. In Boston, for example, government employees can receive 12 weeks of paid leave for abortion, the same benefit for having a baby.”
Then he turned to President Biden and his administration. “And we’ve heard their radical agenda: In his State of the Union address President Joe Biden recently pledged himself to defend the ‘God-given right’ of men to compete in women’s sports. And their latest appointment to the Supreme Court of the United States couldn’t even define what a woman was. Now they want to lecture us about protecting women.”
“The American people are not confused about human biology and we are not confused about right and wrong,” he said bluntly.
“In days gone by, liberals viewed abortion —remember — as a necessary evil,” he recalled. “Remember ‘safe and legal and rare?’ Those days are over. The truth is, today most on the Left believe abortion is a moral good to be celebrated and encouraged.”
“But we are here to declare on this momentous week, with one voice, Roe must go,” he declared. “And we will never stop working until every child, born and unborn, is protected in the law as a precious gift from God.
“Governors, state legislators at every level, if this Supreme Court draft opinion holds, will now have a say over the issue of life in their individual states,” Pence pointed out. “And I have a sense, as the nation is moving more and more in the direction of recognizing the sanctity of life, that they will be looking for women and men who are willing to stand up unapologetically for the cause of life this year and in the years to come.”
