Ivana Trump’s three children posted tributes to their mother late this week after she died following injuries that she sustained from falling down the stairs.
The New York City Office of Chief Medical Examiner said that her death was being ruled an accident after she succumbed to the blunt impact injuries to her torso after the fall.
“Mom, we will miss you incredibly,” Donald Trump Jr. wrote in a post on Instagram. “Thanks for always pushing us hard, not letting us get away with anything, and instilling so many incredible values and personality traits. From your sense of humor to your sense of adventure, I am who I am today because of you. I love you very much. R.I.P.”

Eric Trump, the youngest of the three, wrote on Instagram: “Our mother was an incredible woman — a force in business, a world-class athlete, a radiant beauty, and caring mother and friend. Ivana Trump was a survivor.”
“She fled from communism and embraced this country,” he continued. “She taught her children about grit and toughness, compassion and determination. She will be dearly missed by her mother, her three children and ten grandchildren.”
Law enforcement officials had received a call to do a wellness check on Ivana, 73, on Thursday because someone close to her had called and said that they had not seen her recently. She reportedly was found near the bottom of a staircase when first responders arrived.
Donald Trump announced his ex-wife’s death on Thursday afternoon in a post on social media, writing: “I am very saddened to inform all of those that loved her, of which there are many, that Ivana Trump has passed away at her home in New York City.”
“She was a wonderful, beautiful, and amazing woman, who led a great and inspirational life,” he added. “Her pride and joy were her three children, Donald Jr., Ivanka, and Eric. She was so proud of them, as we were all so proud of her. Rest In Peace, Ivana!”
Ivana Marie Zelnícková was born under communist rule in the former Czechoslovakia. She was athletically gifted growing up, participating in competitive skiing starting at the age of six and continuing to ski through college. She was also reportedly an alternate for the country’s Olympic team in 1972.
Ivana later immigrated to Canada in the 1970s where she worked as a ski instructor before starting her modeling career, which landed her in New York in 1976 where she quickly met Donald Trump.
Ivana married Donald in 1977. The couple got divorced in 1992.
The New York Times reported that Ivana was a “critical part” in Donald building his real-estate business, describing her as extremely hard working and with a keen eye for details. At one point she served as vice president for interior design at the Trump Organization.
Ivana and Donald were on good terms in recent years, reportedly speaking as often as once a week, as she supported him politically and encouraged his use of Twitter.
