Oklahoma Republican Sen. James Lankford declared his position on the pro-life issue in a fiery Twitter post that accused “the same individuals that work to protect the bald eagle eggs have no problem taking a life in the womb.”
Lankford posted the strong pro-life statement to Twitter on Friday alongside a video from his remarks during a news conference on abortion at the U.S. Capitol on Tuesday in Washington, D.C., prior to the Supreme Court’s opening arguments regarding a Mississippi abortion restriction law on Wednesday.
“I don’t understand how the same individuals that work to protect the bald eagle eggs have no problem taking a life in the womb,” Lankford tweeted.
“Children are not medical waste. They are beautiful, innocent, and valuable,” he added.

“I don’t understand how infants have become a partisan issue,” Lankford said in the video.
“On this issue, I do not understand how some people see a baby sucking their thumb in the womb and they see them only as medical waste,” he added.
Lankford also questioned how pro-choice advocates deal with the inconsistencies between referring to a woman who has had an abortion and a woman who has experienced a miscarriage.
“I don’t understand how some people can support an abortion in one moment but when they talk to a woman that’s had a miscarriage, they immediately respond with, ‘Oh, I’m so sorry,’” he argued.
“If a miscarriage is the loss of a child, then what’s an abortion?” Lankford asked.
In another Twitter post, the Oklahoma senator also addressed the science regarding children in the womb.
“The science is clear to anyone willing to get past talking points and actually look in the womb,” Lankford wrote.
“Abortion is not about random tissue; it’s about a person,” he added.

Noting the numerical significance of the issue, Lankford also commented that more than 62 million abortions have taken place in America since Roe v. Wade.
“62 million is the combined population of VT, AK, ND, SD, DE, RI, ME, NH, HI, WV, ID, NE, NM, KS, MS, AR, NV, IA, UT, CT, OR, KY, LA, AL, & OK. That’s how many children have been killed by abortion since Roe v Wade. This is the most consequential case for human rights in 48 years,” he observed.

Lankford also appeared at a pro-life event in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday as the Supreme Court heard opening arguments in the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization case on Wednesday.
