Robert “Bobby” Crimo is believed to be traveling in a 2010 silver Honda Fit with the Illinois plate No. DM80653 and is considered armed and dangerous. Police described him as a slender, white male with long, dark hair wearing a a white or blue T-shirt. Sgt. Christopher Covelli, of the Lake County Major Crime Task Force, said the suspect could still be in the city or could have fled the area.
“This was very random, very intentional and a very sad day,” Covelli said during a press update.
More than 100 local, state and federal law enforcement officers, including the FBI, are working on the investigation.
The parade, in Highland Park, was thrown into chaos and carnage just after 10 a.m. Monday when shots rang out from a rooftop overlooking the event. Covelli said the gunman appeared to have taken up up a sniper position. Police recovered a high-powered rifle from the scene.
