Republican Georgia Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene was temporarily suspended from Facebook Monday, less than 24 hours after she was permanently banned from Twitter.

“Facebook has joined Twitter in censoring me,” Greene wrote in a post on alternative social media platform GETTR Monday morning. “This is beyond censorship of speech.”

“I’m an elected Member of Congress representing over 700,000 US tax paying citizens and I represent their voices, values, defend their freedoms, and protect the Constitution,” Greene continued. “But apparently they too think the CDC managed #VAERS system on our own government websites are misinformation. And to date there has been ZERO investigation into reported Covid deaths from government mandated #covid vaccines.”

“Who appointed Twitter and Facebook to be the authorities of information and misinformation? When Big Tech decides what political speech of elected Members is accepted and what’s not then they are working against our government and against the interest of our people.”

The post included a screenshot of the notification from Facebook that she was locked out of posting to her official Facebook page for 24 hours for going “against [Facebook’s] standards on misinformation that could cause physical harm.” The screenshot includes the tweet that allegedly violated the rule. The post reads:

It’s 2022.

After 2020, we crossed into a new time dating method.

BC. and AC.

Before Covid. After Covid.

We are moving into the third year AC.

Greene’s suspension comes less than a day after the Georgia Republican was permanently suspended from Twitter Sunday for “repeated violations” of the platform’s “misinformation” policy as it relates to COVID-19 vaccines. The Daily Wire reported:

Twitter gave a statement to The Hill on Sunday, confirming that the account (@mtgreenee) had been permanently suspended.

We permanently suspended the account you referenced (@mtgreenee) for repeated violations of our COVID-19 misinformation policy. We’ve been clear that, per our strike system for this policy, we will permanently suspend accounts for repeated violations of the policy.

According to New York Times tech reporter Davey Alba, Twitter confirmed to him that Greene had “five strikes” against her with regard to the platform’s medical misinformation policy, and she would not be allowed to reinstate her account.

Greene took issue with Twitter’s contention that she had received “five strikes” against her for misinformation. “Twitter forgot about the 2 times they accidentally suspended my account this past year,” Greene wrote in a GETTR post Monday afternoon, which included screenshots from news reports that Twitter had mistakenly suspended Greene in the past. “That means I’ve only had 3 strikes in their 5 strike system. Twitter has to reinstate my account immediately,” she wrote.

As of the publishing of this piece, Twitter has not responded to Greene’s complaints.
