Independent journalist and Sirius XM radio host Megyn Kelly blew up Cassidy Hutchinson’s testimony before the January 6 Committee, arguing that “a first year law student could have driven a truck through the holes” in her story.

The former Fox News host opened her Thursday broadcast with a monologue about the ongoing January 6 Committee hearings, beginning with her own assessment of former President Donald Trump. Referencing her own debate questions about Trump’s temperament — and whether or not he was suited to the presidency — Kelly argued that Trump’s behavior when he lost the 2020 presidential election was a reasonable indicator that she had been right to ask about that.

Kelly then pivoted to the committee itself, saying that its only purpose from the beginning had been to damage Trump so badly that he could not run in 2024 — and she said that if they were only honest about that, she might be more interested in what they had to say.

“It cloaks itself in sanctimony, purporting to be a fair-minded, down-the-middle finder of fact, just looking to get to the truth of January 6th,” Kelly added. “It’s a lie. And they prove every time they get together it’s a lie.”

Kelly then moved on to address Hutchinson’s testimony, saying that her comments were “causing Democrats and the press to collapse onto their fainting couches.”

Breaking down Hutchinson’s testimony point by point, Kelly began with the claim the Trump allegedly knew that armed supporters of his were trying to get into the rally on January 6 — and that he encouraged Secret Service members to allow them in without forcing them to go through the metal detectors.

Kelly began by pointing to the evasive language Hutchinson used even as she gave her testimony, noting that she hadn’t really made a direct statement. Instead, she had been “in the vicinity of a conversation” that she “overheard” in which President Trump said “something to the effect of” about his supporters having weapons.

“What actually happened?” Kelly asked. “Did the Secret Service stop screening people? Were they let in? No one has suggested that … A first year law student could have driven a truck through the holes in that testimonial. Unfortunately, none was present yesterday, never mind a full-fledged lawyer presenting Donald Trump’s defense or even just pressing the witness on certain problems with her testimony.”

Kelly went on to say that she wasn’t suggesting Hutchinson was lying — only that there were problems with the former aide’s testimony that should have been challenged.
