Over the weekend, former Vice President Mike Pence lashed out at President Biden after he claimed “this MAGA crowd is really the most extreme political organization that’s existed in American history, in recent American history.”
Biden disparaged the MAGA crowd after the draft of a Supreme Court opinion that would overturn Roe v. Wade was leaked.
Pence told Fox News Digital, “With all due respect, President Biden sounds desperate. It sounds like the rhetoric of an administration grasping for straws. … I mean, look, the president’s approval rating speaks for itself. He is exploring of the bowels of American approval numbers in modern history.”
“And it’s because the American people see the failed policies of this administration at home and abroad,” Pence continued, adding:
And I think there’s no amount of, you know, any effort by this administration to demean the 74 million people that supported this movement. And millions of Americans who know our economy can be strong, our borders can be secure, and that that America can be respected on the world stage and our values can be respected in our courts, that they love.
“That kind of rhetoric will only serve to motivate people that share our values and our vision for the country to turn out to vote,” Pence predicted.
“Now with regard to its impact on elections, I must tell you that, look, the failed policies of the Biden administration are almost too many to recount,” Pence noted. “The disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan, the emboldening of the enemies of freedom around the world. The inflation at a 40-year high, the worst border crisis in history, a crime wave in our cities. All are a testament to the failed left-wing policies of the Biden administration.”
“And I fully expect that voters are going to carry their strong feelings about that into the voting booth,” he concluded.
Speaking to The Daily Wire on Saturday, Pence dismissed leftist hopes that a Supreme Court opinion targeting Roe would distract voters from pressing issues such as inflation and the immigration crisis at the southern border, among others, saying:
I have a very different thought. I have a sense that should the Supreme Court overturn Roe v. Wade and return the question of abortion to the states, there’s going to be millions of Americans who take a harder look at who they are supporting and electing as governor and as their state legislators on the issues of life.
“And I think in a very real sense, not only will the prospect of this decision potentially give us a new beginning for life in this country, which I think is the most important moral question in America today, but also I think it will revive a political debate at the state level,” he stated, concluding, “I hope and pray that the draft opinion becomes adopted as the majority opinion of the Supreme Court of the United States and we send Roe v. Wade to the ash heap of history where it belongs.”
