Meghan Markle and Prince Harry celebrated their three-year wedding anniversary on Wednesday, receiving no public acknowledgment from the British Royal Family.
“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex tied the knot on May 19, 2018, at Windsor Castle in a televised ceremony watched by millions around the world,” reported Fox News. “While the couple likely celebrated hitting their three years of marriage at home in private, it was obvious the British royal family did not see it fit to commemorate the memorable day in the public eye.”
Neither Queen Elizabeth II nor Prince Charles nor Prince William publicly acknowledged or sent well-wishes to the couple on their anniversary. Instead, the Royal Family celebrated Princess Beatrice’s announced pregnancy on Wednesday. Just one month prior, the Royal Family celebrated Prince William and Kate Middleton’s 10-year anniversary. The obvious snub comes just two months after Harry and Meghan did an interview with Oprah Winfrey during which they said that a senior member of the Royal Family raised questions about baby Archie’s skin color. Neither Harry nor Meghan identified the culprit of this alleged exchange. Harry also said he feels a great deal of “hurt” over how his father treated him in the wake of his exit from the family.
“I will always love him, but there is a lot of hurt that’s happened. I will continue to make it one of my priorities to try to heal that relationship. But they only know what they know,” he said, later asserting he felt “trapped.”
“I didn’t see a way out,” he said. “I was trapped, but I didn’t know I was trapped. Trapped within the system like the rest of the family. My father and my brother are trapped. They don’t get to leave, and I have huge compassion for that.”
Earlier this month, Prince Harry made headlines after his appearance on “The Armchair Expert” podcast with hosts Dax Shepard and Monica Padman where he criticized the paparazzi and their protection under the First Amendment.
“I don’t want to start sort of going down the First Amendment route because that’s a huge subject and one in which I don’t understand because I’ve only been here a short period of time,” Harry said. “But, you can find a loophole in anything. And you can capitalize or exploit what’s not said rather than uphold what is said.”
“I’ve got so much I want to say about the First Amendment as I sort of understand it, but it is bonkers,” he concluded.
Since Prince Harry’s interview with Dax Shepard, sources close to the palace have claimed that aides are looking into stripping Prince Harry of all official royal titles. The Duke of Sussex will allegedly share new information about his experience in the Royal Family in an upcoming project with Oprah Winfrey.
