Texas gubernatorial candidate Don Huffines, a Republican, dropped an ad Thursday targeting Republican Texas Governor Greg Abbott for his alleged inaction toward protecting minors from medical gender transition.

Joining him in the ad is Jeff Younger, father to a young boy named James whose mother, Jeff’s ex, has been trying to transition to a “girl” named Luna since he was three years old. Notably, in 2019, Abbott tweeted that the state would be looking into the case concerning James. But according to Younger, Abbott “hasn’t said or done a thing about my son’s case” since publishing the tweet.

Drawing a contrast, Huffines vowed to outlaw the medical “transition” of children in the state of Texas if elected governor. “Transitionary therapy and genital mutilation surgery on children is legal in Texas,” Huffines captioned the ad. “This is absurd, and when I am governor we will put an end to all of it.”

In the video, Younger explains that he and his ex-wife Dr. Anne Georgulas have been legally battling over James.

“I live in Texas. My ex-wife has been trying to sexually transition my son since the age of three. She wants him to be a girl. I’m fighting for my son’s life because our politicians refuse to ban the barbaric practice of transition therapy, puberty blockers, and even genital mutilation surgery on kids.”

“Two years ago, after receiving a massive amount of pressure about his silence on this abuse, Greg Abbott tweeted this,” Younger blasted Abbott, showing the tweet (see below). “Since that tweet, Abbott hasn’t said or done a thing about my son’s case. Last week, Republicans even killed legislation that would ban sex change surgeries on children right here in Texas.”

In October 2019, Abbott, in the tweet referenced by Younger, wrote: “FYI the matter of 7 year old James Younger is being looked into by the Texas Attorney General’s Office and the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. #JamesYounger.”

Younger said Abbott’s “silence and inaction is endangering Texas children” and thanked Huffines for standing with him from “the beginning.”

“As governor, I will end the barbaric practice of these abusive therapies on two year olds and the mutilation of Texas children will come to the end,” Huffines closed the ad. “We are out of time. No more excuses.”

Back in 2019, a jury ruled against a request from Mr. Younger to have sole conservatorship over James and his twin brother Jude, thereby allowing Dr. Anne Georgulas, the boy’s mother and Younger’s ex-wife, to continue to facilitate the child’s gender transition. A judge later ruled that the pair would have joint guardianship over James.

In testimony from Georgulas in July, the mother admitted that James, if he “persists” in being a “girl” named “Luna,” will be evaluated for hormone suppressants as young as age eight.

Speaking to podcast host Luke Macias in January 2019, Younger detailed his ex-wife dressing up his son as a girl.

“I want you to imagine having electronic communication with your son on FaceTime, and imagine that your ex-wife has dressed him as a drag queen to talk to you,” Younger said on an episode of “The Luke Macias Show.” “He has false eyelashes and makeup. His hair has got glitter in it. He’s wearing a dress.”

“Now imagine how you would feel seeing what I believe is actual sexual abuse — I believe this is not just emotional abuse but is the very, most fundamental form of sexual abuse, tampering with the sexual identity of a vulnerable boy,” the father continued.

Moreover, a troubling video of James at age three shows the child telling Mr. Younger that “mommy” tells him he’s a girl:

“You’re a boy, right?” Mr. Younger asks his son in the video.

“No,” James responds. “I’m a girl.”

“Who told you you’re a girl?” the father asks.

“Mommy,” the child answers.

Mr. Younger asks, “When did she tell you you were a girl?”

“Because, I love girls!” the three-year-old says.

“Oh, I see. So mommy told you you’re a girl?”

“Mhmm,” James answers in the affirmative.

The child tells Mr. Younger that his mother puts dresses on him, buys him headbands and hair clips, and paints his nails because he likes nail polish.

“So mommy puts you in a dress and puts nail polish on you?” Mr. Younger says.

“Mhmm,” James replies.

“And what does mommy tell you?”

“She tells me I’m a girl,” the child responds.

Court documents show that Younger’s son only dresses as a girl when he’s with his mother, who calls the boy by his trans name and has even enrolled James as “Luna” in school. According to Younger, however, James consistently chooses to wear boy’s clothes, “violently refuses to wear girl’s clothes at my home,” and identifies as a boy whenever he is around him.

James’ mother has accused Younger of child abuse in their divorce proceedings “for not affirming James as transgender,” The Federalist reported.
