White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki refused to answer on Monday whether President Joe Biden believes that a 15-week old unborn baby was a human being.

“Does the President believe that a 15-weekold unborn baby is a human being?” a reporter asked.

Psaki immediately dodged the question by pretending that the reporter had asked a different question.

“Are you asking me if the President supports a woman’s right to choose?” Psaki asked. “He does.”

Psaki then immediately called on another reporter.

WATCH:

The question comes as “U.S. Catholic bishops overwhelmingly approved the drafting of a ‘teaching document’ that many of them hope will rebuke Catholic politicians, including President Joe Biden, for receiving Communion despite their support for abortion rights,” USA Today reported. “The result of the vote – 168 in favor and 55 against – was announced Friday near the end of a three-day virtual meeting of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops.”

Psaki had to deflect from answering another question about abortion during the press conference:

REPORTER: The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops is writing a document to clarify who should receive Communion. And this is targeted at politicians, people who have a high public profile. What’s the President’s reaction to this?

PSAKI: Well Joe Biden is a strong man of faith. And as he noted, just a couple of days ago, it’s personal. He goes to church, as you know, nearly every weekend, he even when when we were on our overseas trip, but it’s personal to him. He doesn’t see it through a political prism. And we’re not going to comment otherwise on the inner workings of the Catholic Church.

REPORTER: [inaudible] … statements by the bishops make the president reconsider his public support for policies that increase access to abortion or allow access to abortion?

PSAKI: Well again, the President’s faith is personal. It’s something that has helped guide him through some challenging moments in his life. And that’s how many Americans see their faith as well, not through a political prism. So I would suspect he will continue to attend church as he has for many, many years.

Immediately following the interaction, another reporter tried to ask a follow up question and Psaki refused to answer.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was asked the same question during a press conference last week, to which she said that she was a “big supporter” of “Roe v. Wade.”

Pelosi had the following interaction:

REPORTER: Thank you, Madam Speaker. I’m with CNS News. The Supreme Court this fall will review a Mississippi law that bans most abortions after fifteen weeks of pregnancy. Is an unborn baby at fifteen weeks a human being?

PELOSI: Let me just say that I am a big supporter of Roe v. Wade. I am a mother of five children in six years. I think I have some standing on this issue as to respecting a woman’s right to choose.
