Golfer Grayson Murray appeared to lose his temper while participating in the U.S. Open on Sunday, throwing one club and breaking another in half after quadruple bogeying one hole and triple bogeying another just a few holes later.
Murray, who was already out of contention before he began Sunday’s final round play, struggled to get control of the 7th hole — which put him at +12 for the competition. Obviously upset after he missed the double bogey attempt, stepped away from the hole and launched his club into the tall grass.
CBS sports reporter Will Brinson shared video of the incident, saying, “Grayson Murray celebrating Father’s Day by triple bogeying and chucking his putter in the long stuff just like dad.”

“Grayson Murray just thru his putter so far it knocked Kevin Na off of his couch at home in Vegas,” golf analyst Amanda Rose quipped.
Murray’s club toss also prompted Claire Rogers to jokingly suggest that the pro-golfer was actually “the best pitcher in baseball right now.”

But a couple of holes later, it was apparent that Murray was still having trouble keeping his frustration in check. After he triple bogeyed the 9th hole, his second shot at the 10th hole landed in the rough. He responded by bending a club over his knee, nearly snapping it in half.
“Grayson Murray is running out of clubs,” Brinson remarked.

Golf Magazine write Dylan Delthier put both videos together and came to the same conclusion that Brinson had: “feels like Grayson Murray is going to run out of golf clubs.”

Several sports commentators reacted to Murray’s behavior, noting that the stress of a major competition like the U.S. Open was certainly not an easy thing to deal with.
“The U.S. Open is a very difficult task. But it’s made worse when you’re letting it get to you like that,” USA Network’s Steve Sands said.
“That’s what a U.S. Open can do to you sometimes,” Justin Leonard added on NBC.
Murray tweeted video of the incident himself, saying that he had no intention of apologizing for taking out his frustrations on his equipment.
“Will never apologize for wearing my emotions on my sleeve,” he tweeted. “US Opens are brutal. If this offends you it’s your problem.”
