While Massachusetts Democrat Rep. Ayanna Pressley has called for allowing people to stop paying their rent amid the COVID-19 lockdowns, her recently filed financial disclosure forms indicate she made between $5,000 and $15,000 in rental income on a property in Boston in her husband’s name, the Washington Free Beacon reports.

Pressley, a far-left House member referred to as a member of the “Squad,” put forth a measure in March to slash mortgage payments and rent across the country. Should the bill have passed, the federal government would have been mandated to reimburse landlords for funds not collected during the coronavirus.

“Keeping families housed is a matter of public health,” the Democrat said in December 2020, likewise signaling her approval of the progressive-inclined notion. “We must cancel rent, extend eviction and foreclosure moratoriums, provide rental assistance, and offer legal representation for those at risk of eviction.”

Last August, Pressley also reiterated a cancel rent sentiment. She quote-tweeted Ohio Republican Rep. Jim Jordan and said, “America needs to cancel rent,” whereas Jordan said, “America needs college football.” Yet her own actions contradict her statements.

A Boston property in Pressley’s husband’s name was referenced on the House member’s financial disclosure from 2020 filed last Friday. The disclosure showed Pressley raked in between $5,000 and $15,000 in rental money for the multi-family apartment.

In 2019, Pressley disclosed between $5,000 and $15,000 in rental income, as noted by Fox News.

It remains unclear why Pressley takes in income from renting considering she has been ardently opposed to other people doing the same. Pressley joined Reps. Cori Bush, D-Mo., and Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., to sleep outside the Capitol to protest the end of the evictions moratorium.

It was uncovered that Bush had hired private security for the protest after calling to “defund the police.” A federal judge ruled Friday to permit the Biden administration’s eviction moratorium to continue.
