The fact a senior Biden administration official vowed to “start acting now” on reparations without a study or the work of Congress exposes it as a “radical proposition” that will be “dead on arrival,” according to Republican National Committee spokesman Paris Dennard on Newsmax TV.
“It’s an appeasement to the radical left and to the progressives in their party,” Dennard told Tuesday’s “National Report.” “The fact that they don’t want to take the time and do a study on it tells you that they’re not serious about the ramifications of what this means.
“The reason why you don’t have details about what reparations means to the Biden administration is because they don’t want the American people to know because it’s going to be a radical proposition that they just want to shove it down the throat of the American people.”
Reparations are a left-wing proposal to help Blacks who have been purportedly set back economically by slavery more than a century ago, but Dennard told host Emma Rechenberg there are far more effective ways to lift up Blacks who are stuck in poverty and lack opportunity.
“Ultimately, they should be doing things that are going to empower and uplift all Americans: Things like tax cuts; things like empowerment; opportunity zones; things like opening up our economy, opening up our schools, focusing on those things that are going to remove barriers to entry,” Dennard said.
“That’s how you help socially and economically distressed communities and people of color. That’s what you do. Reparations, the way that they’re trying to sell it to the American people, is going to be dead on arrival.”
President Joe Biden is not necessarily in charge of the White House, just like he was not in charge of his campaign, and Democrats are proving to be a “divided” party, Dennard said.
Biden’s administration has to appease the far-left progressive wing, he added.
“The progressives and the radicals are the ones that put him in office,” Dennard said.
