The White House’s plan to send more than $300 million to Central America in an effort stop migration to the U.S.-Mexico border will just dig into American taxpayers’ pockets and won’t work, Rep. Brian Babin said Tuesday.
“What needs to be done is to reimplement these policies that the Trump administration actually came up with the last four years,” the Texas Republican said on Fox Business’s “Mornings with Maria.”
Former President Donald Trump, after the immigrant surge in 2019, negotiated some “great agreements” with the Central American countries of Guatemala, El Salvador, and Ecuador, as well as Mexico, said Babin.
“Even the Guatemalan foreign minister laid the blame for a lot of problems across our border at the feet of Joe Biden,” said Babin. “If he cared about these migrants as he says, he would not continue to empower cartels, to seek, I mean I don’t know how many more children we have to see dropped over a 14-foot wall or seeing 6-year-olds wandering around the desert before we have something done about this.”
But instead, Biden didn’t want to admit Trump’s policies were “absolutely” working, said Babin.
“I just got back from the border a couple, three weeks ago and I’m getting ready to go to the border again in a couple of weeks,” he added “I can tell you that it is unbelievable what we’re seeing, down there.”
The number of people coming across is also sky high and climbing, said Babin, adding that the Department of Health and Human Services is spending $60 million to house migrant children.
“We are on track this month to have 22,000 unaccompanied children, and if it keeps going this way we will have by September what, 26,000, 27,000 unaccompanied children coming across every month.”
The Biden administration also is not taking the actions that it has taken because of compassion for the migrants, but as part of a plan to “replace the American electorate with people that are coming in,” said Babin.
“They put them immediately on government services they franchise them so they can cast a vote, ” said Babin. “This will give the Democrats a permanent majority all the way from the president on down. People are not dumb, they know what is going on here.”
Further, the border situation is allowing several COVID-positive people to come into the country while some schools remain closed because of the pandemic, and that is also angering Americans, the congressman said.
