Rep. James Comer of Kentucky on Wednesday spoke with Newsmax TV to discuss President Joe Biden’s first joint congressional address, saying he would have high hopes if the president were acting in a manner to reach a bipartisan agenda. Still, so far, that is not what he has seen.

Appearing on “American Agenda,” Comer said he had his doubts about Biden speaking to bipartisanship “because the first 100 days have been all about passing a partisan liberal agenda.” Comer referred to Biden spending “money like a drunken soldier,” when alluding to the current series of bills currently up for approval, including the $1.9 trillion COVID relief bill which is already approved, $2.3  trillion on infrastructure, and the $1.8 trillion for his American Families Plan which he is expected to further discuss in his address.

Comer went on to cite Biden’s first ‘100 failures in 100 days’ from a letter he wrote, listing the border crisis chief among them. “In his first two acts as president, he tied the hands of our border agents and being able to apprehend illegals crossing the border, and he halted construction of the border wall.”

He went on to say, “Many of us think the border wall is infrastructure,” but also what most people consider infrastructure like “roads, bridges, inland waterways, rural broadband.” Comer admits the border wall is a partisan issue, but when the democrats talk about infrastructure, they seem to refer to things that don’t speak to the term.

“When you listen to Joe Biden and Ocasio-Cortez and the liberal wing of the democratic party talk about infrastructure, they’re talking about child care; they’re talking about social justice programs, things that have absolutely nothing to do with infrastructure.”

Comer then added he was perplexed with the way Biden is acting, commenting that the president knows how to be bipartisan, citing a lifelong career in the senate. But instead, he seems to be opting for partisan outcomes.

“He hasn’t met with rank and file members of the House or the Senate,” Comer said, “And it’s very unfortunate because he’s been president 100 days. He served his whole career in the United States senate, so he understands the legislative process. But it’s just like…immediately upon taking office, he surrenders to the liberal wing of the democratic party and is trying to be progressive; and has passed the most liberal socialist agenda that we’ve ever seen in the history of America. It’s very unfortunate.”
