“Let’s be honest, our college campuses these days … aren’t higher education institutions. These are indoctrination camps,” Rep. Kat Cammack said on Fox News on Monday. She and Rep. Jim Jordan are fed up with it, so they’re fighting back.
Both House Republicans just partnered with Young America’s Foundation (YAF) to establish the Campus Free Speech Caucus in the House of Representatives. According to YAF, the caucus will “aim to educate other legislators about the clear bias against free speech on campuses and help bring national and local awareness to what is occurring in their districts and across the country daily.”
“We are going to be holding these institutions accountable and giving these conservative students an outlet where they can bring their stories to us and we can educate our colleagues on the dangers of the indoctrination that is happening on our college campuses,” Cammack said.

As the youngest Republican woman in Congress, Cammack vividly remembers being attacked with racist leftism on her college campus: “It wasn’t too long ago that I found myself as an undergraduate student being attacked by my Latin American … politics professor, telling me that all white, Republican men are the source of world conflict.”
“So, I myself have experienced the harassment, the vitriol, from the liberal left on college campuses,” Cammack continued. “And now we have students across the country that are being attacked, they are being vilified.” Cammack said she finds it “absolutely ludicrous that we as taxpayers fund this type of behavior.”
Jordan agrees. “Every single right we have under the First Amendment has been assaulted,” he lamented. “Your right to practice your faith, your right to assemble, your right to petition your government, freedom of press, freedom of speech, every one.” Jordan emphasized, however, that the problem is the worst on America’s college campuses. “And that’s why we’re forming this caucus,” Jordan said, “to push back and stand up for the Bill of Rights, for the Constitution, and, most importantly, for your free speech rights under the First Amendment.”
In order to expose the continued challenges to free speech on America’s college campuses, Jordan and Cammack will meet with students and YAF leaders on a monthly basis, after which they will share their findings with colleagues in Congress.
“Every day,” Jordan told YAF, “students and faculty are forced to self-censor out of fear that they will be ‘canceled’ by the mob. The Campus Free Speech Caucus, led by Rep. Kat Cammack and inspired by YAF, will work with Congress to push back on ‘woke’ cancel culture and defend freedom for Americans everywhere.”
“We’re sending the message that free speech is not only a constitutional right, but also a core freedom that must be preserved on college campuses across the country,” Cammack added. “At a time when university leadership and students are caving to the pressure of liberal progressivism, my colleagues in Congress will stand up for the First Amendment and ensure [that] all have the right to exercise their thoughts and ideas freely and without persecution.”
YAF views “[t]his caucus [as] an important next step in ensuring America’s leaders understand the fight at hand.”
