Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel said Tuesday that President Joe Biden border policies are putting families’ lives in the “the hands of cartels,” according to the Daily Caller.
“I think he’s doing tremendous harm to these families who are coming here with hope and want to come to the United States of America, but are being put in the hands of cartels,” said McDaniel.
McDaniel then added, “They have to pay the cartels to cross into the United States of America and many, many children are dying along the way and suffering horrific abuses as they come to this country.”
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, according to McDaniel, said “there isn’t a single person coming across our border who isn’t being dealt with for the cartels.”
According to Customs and Border Protection, agents encountered 172,331 migrants in March alone. In Feb. CBP agents encountered 101,028 migrants. The Biden administration has since increased the refugee cap from the Trump administration’s 15,000 for the fiscal year to 62,500. Some Democrats have said that the number is a representation of Biden moving too slow.
Following the migrant trend, Biden released the following in a statement, “This erases the historically low number set by the previous administration of 15,000, which did not reflect America’s values as a nation that welcomes and supports refugees The new admissions cap will also reinforce efforts that are already underway to expand the United States’ capacity to admit refugees so that we can reach the goal of 125,000 refugee admissions that I intend to set for the coming fiscal year,” according to Fox News.
McDaniel has come out criticizing Biden over his refusal to work with governors and lawmakers working at the southern border. “[Biden]keeps throwing quick fixes out there that appease the Democrat Progressive left without actually solving a root problem.”
McDaniel continued, “So he’s putting a policy in place. He keeps [Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez] happy, and [Democratic Illinois Sen. Dick] Durbin and the progressive left, but it is a catastrophe for everybody who’s dealing with it in real time in our southern states.”
“It’s impacting children at a significant rate, many who are dying as they make this journey…He’s interested in giving to his progressive friends and making sure they get their win,” said McDaniel.
