An investigation is underway after an officer-involved shooting that left two officers hospitalized and the suspect dead.
The shooting happened in Miami-Dade County on Friday following a dispute between two men in a road rage incident. Reports said one of the men chased the other in his car and lost control before crashing into a tree.
The two officers happened to be in the area and immediately responded to the incident.
“As the officer is observing the subject in that car, [the suspect] jumped out of his car and opened fire. He struck the officer’s vehicle several times. The officer and other officers that were in the vicinity opened fire, they struck the subject. The subject has been pronounced dead,” said Public Information Officer for the Doral Police Department, Rey Valdes.
UPDATE: A source identifies Yordany Rodriguez Perez, 24, as the person who allegedly shot two Doral police officers this morning. Both officers are expected to survive.

One of the officers, who was wearing a bullet proof vest at the time of the shooting, is said to be in serious but stable condition after being shot in the chest. The other officer involved is recovering after being grazed in the cheek by shrapnel.
In the meantime, authorities have since recovered a gun from the scene.
