A massive caravan of illegal migrants is gradually advancing through southern Mexico and it’s fast approaching the U.S. border.
Reports on Monday found the caravan of migrants, mostly from Honduras and El Salvador, traveled 16 miles over the past 24 hours through the Mexican state of Tapachula. Migrants reportedly have humanitarian papers that shield them from being detained by Mexican authorities.
Organizers of the caravan call their effort “resistance” to international rules of migration.
“We are going to resist, we are going to resist peacefully. We are not going for confrontation, we are going in the name of God and peacefully,” said organizer of the migrant caravan, Luis Villagran. “What we want is to receive attention regarding the administrative immigration paperwork according to law.”

Mexican officials say migrants who seek entry to the U.S. must remain in southern Mexican states until their cases have been processed. However, the caravan appears to be in defiance of Mexico’s rules.
This comes as a record number of illegal immigrants have crossed into the U.S. under Joe Biden.
