The Biden administration announced a campaign encouraging immigrants to become U.S. citizens. The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services released a plan on Friday, which outlined ways to actively recruit immigrants and eliminate many naturalization rules implemented by President Trump.
The Biden administration has sought to provide naturalization to more than 11 million illegal immigrants, with the passage of the American Dream and Promise Act and the Farm Workforce Modernization Act. Biden held a naturalization ceremony at the White House on Friday to swear in 21 new U.S. citizens. The USCIS announced plans for over 150 more naturalization ceremonies to take place the first week of July.
We're happy to announce the release of the Interagency Strategy for Promoting Naturalization. The strategy outlines a whole-of-government approach to promoting integration, inclusion, and citizenship to all who are eligible. https://t.co/UFXcMtRNTG pic.twitter.com/zrk1Bk2JFA

The campaign is reported to include various outreach programs, which would connect millions of immigrants with tools to gain U.S. citizenship. These programs would be implemented through social media and community-based organizations.
Republican lawmakers continue to criticize the push to make the path to citizenship easier by arguing it will only exacerbate the current crisis by enticing more to cross the border illegally.
