HBO host Bill Maher took on the New York Times for having fallen into “wokeness.” On Friday’s episode of Real Time, the left-wing host referenced the music festival Lollapalooza by saying he was all for living moving on.

Maher came down on the mainstream media for getting the public wound up over the Delta variant and argued the media has failed to look into the origins of the coronavirus.

Maher went on to say everything has become about race and outlets such as the New York Times stopped reporting accurate news. He called this an example of the “power of wokeness.”

“The Spectator says that the New York Times refused to investigate what they call the biggest story of our time. They’re talking about where the virus originated. Maybe it was in the Wuhan Lab,” he stated. “They suppressed efforts to probe the virus’s origin for, among reasons, because they thought it was racist.”

Maher said he believed this singular focus on race was dangerous and the so-called “paper of record” no longer recorded facts.
