CNN anchor Don Lemon appeared to turn on his friend Jussie Smollett while calling him a liar just moments after the guilty verdict. Lemon covered the story on his show Thursday after a Chicago jury found the actor guilty on five of six-counts in his hate crime hoax trial.
The anchor called out Smollett for weaving a web of lies and continuing that deceit on the witness stand. His remarks came after Smollett testified it was Lemon who first warned him police did not believe his homophobic, racist, hate crime story.

“He had to make up too many lies as to why he didn’t want to do certain things, like to cover,” said the CNN anchor. “I guess he got caught up in that because he took the stand himself. He got angry with the prosecutor as the prosecutor poked holes in his story, calling the only other witnesses liars.”
However, Lemon stopped short of discussing his alleged involvement in the case. Meanwhile, a judge will decide if Smollett will serve probation or face jail time.
