Republican lawmakers are criticizing Disney for caving to Communist China with its latest censorship. In a letter to Disney, 13 Republicans led by congressman Jeff Duncan (R-S.C.) criticized Disney for pulling “The Simpson’s” episode called “The Simpson’s go to China.”

The South Carolina lawmaker said such censorship on behalf of the Communist Party is “disgusting and worthy of condemnation.” The episode in question mentions Tiananmen Square protests and features Homer Simpson saying Mao Zedong killed 50 million people.

Duncan said U.S. companies doing business with China are facing political pressure.

“I have notable concerns about American companies doing business in China and accommodations they make with the People’s Republic of China,” he explained. “It is astonishing to me that there is any level of doubt over the level of access of the Chinese Communist Party as over this conglomerate and similar entities.”

Duncan stressed Disney bending to the Chinese Communist Party is a betrayal of the company’s founding principles for the sake of profiting from the Chinese market.
