In a video released on Wednesday, several Republicans thanked Afghanistan veterans for their service in Afghanistan. The senators emphasized they have kept our nation safe over the last 20 years.

They also encouraged those with veterans in their lives to reach out to them as the situation in the Middle Eastern nation unfolds. Lawmakers stressed mental health help is also available to those who may need it.

According to the Defense Department, more than 800,000 Americans served in Afghanistan.
