A group of gun owners has sued a Minnesota County and the State Fair to allow permit holders to carry guns during “The Great Minnesota Get-Together.” On Tuesday, the Minnesota Gun Owners Caucus filed the lawsuit claiming the Minnesota State Agricultural Society lacks authority to impose the gun ban.

The State Fair released a statement saying, “we will maintain our time-honored Minnesota tradition of peaceful family-friendly fairs by protecting the safety and security of our guests.”

However, the group claimed the State Fair’s ban on guns violates the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms.

The lawsuit requests the court order fair security to allow those carrying valid permits, to bring their pistols onto the fairgrounds for self-defense. The plaintiffs said they seek an injunction that would prevent fair security from denying entrance to, or detaining, permitted gun owners.
