Officials have warned residents of the northwest U.S. to brace for another sizzling heat wave this week. Meteorologists on Thursday estimated temperatures could top 110 degrees Fahrenheit in parts of Western Oregon by Friday. They added temperatures could hit 106 degrees in the days leading up to it.

Portland residents reportedly flocked to cooling centers on Wednesday, with 90-degree temperatures reported in major cities throughout the region. Officials said the heat poses dangers for residents throughout the northwest, as many don’t have air conditioning due to historically moderate-to-cool weather.
