Members of the House Freedom Caucus demanded for Joe Biden and his top officials to resign following their mishandling of the Afghan withdrawal. In a statement on Tuesday, Republican lawmakers unveiled several resolutions, which called for the resignations of Biden, his Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Mark Milley.

Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Calif) went on to announce, “we call upon, most somberly, the resignation of this president, Joe Biden.”

In addition, House Republicans pushed for the impeachment of Secretary of State Antony Blinken. The lawmakers stressed the Biden administration was fully responsible for the Afghan catastrophe.

“President Biden and his advisors should have seen the rapid fall of Afghanistan coming as the Intelligence assessments provided were indeed accurate. This was not an Intelligence community failure. This was a failure of leadership,” asserted Rep. Andrew Clyde (R-Ga.). “If the administration could not understand the dire situation, then they were incompetent for the job from the very beginning, but it appears that they chose to ignore the Intelligence and maintain an inflexible course of action.”

House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy (Calif.) has previously not ruled out drafting articles of impeachment against Biden if such a move is backed by facts.
