Republican members of the House Armed Services Committee have urged the Biden administration to disclose the amount of U.S. weapons seized by the Taliban. Led by Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Ala.), a group of GOP lawmakers outlined a bill to mandate the release of such information.

The legislation would order Biden’s officials to explain what and how many U.S. weapons were seized by the Taliban. Reports earlier this week estimated the Taliban could have obtained up to 600,000 weapons.

The Biden administration has continued to dismiss any questions regarding details on the seized weapons and equipment. Senate Republicans sent a  letter to Department of Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin on Wednesday, which requested the status of all U.S. military equipment in Afghanistan.

Other military equipment seized by the Taliban have included planes, ground vehicles, intelligence tools and night vision equipment. Republicans mentioned the upcoming bill would be included as part of next year’s National Defense Authorization Act.
