House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said she’s “very disappointed” Democrats are not going ahead with the proposed $3.5 trillion reconciliation bill. During a press conference this week, she claimed the spending package would have been very transformative, but insisted it will still lead to extensive reform.
Those comments came after Pelosi told colleagues Monday, fellow members of the Democrat caucus have been advising her to “do fewer things well” in regard to the reconciliation bill. The California lawmaker did not disclose a specific figure Democrats will seek to reduce the bill too.
“Well, let me just say that at $3.5 trillion, we were doing everything well,” Pelosi stated, “So not a question of now we’re doing it well because it’s less money. But the fact is, is that if there is, are fewer dollars to spend, there are choices to be made and members have said, ‘let’s get the results that we need.’”
