French presidential candidate Marine Le Pen has vowed to “drastically” change the nation’s immigration system if elected next year. In a news conference in Paris on Tuesday, the National Rally leader said she has a legislative package on immigration reform “ready to go.”

Le Pen asserted she would impose border controls between France and other EU members to restrict movement of non-EU citizens. She added, France needs to end mass migration from Africa and the Middle East. Instead, the presidential candidate said the country needs to focus on attracting skilled and highly educated immigrants.

“Take into account the number of illegal migrants on our territory, take into account the problems that are the consequences of this massive immigration into our country: the neighborhoods, the ghettoization, the communitarianism, the challenges to the laws of the republic within certain neighborhoods, the obvious and very heavy consequences in terms of safety, ” stated Le Pen.

The presidential candidate also pledged to restore the rule of law in France, which she asserted is being eroded by illegal migrants. France will elect its next president in April 2022.
