Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan (R) has spoke out about a possible 2022 Senate run. In a recent interview with conservative radio talk show host Hugh Hewitt, the Republican governor said he was focused on his current job and had a long time to make a decision.

This comes as incumbent Democrat Sen. Chris Van Hollen (Md.) said he would run for a second term. Many prominent Republicans have pushed Hogan to run for the seat, as the GOP looked to regain control of the upper chamber.

“We’ve got a long time to figure that out,” he stated. “I’m really focused on my day job. I’ve got an important job here running the state of Maryland. I don’t like it when people focus on their next job rather than doing the one they were elected to do.”

Hogan could very well be a competitive challenger to Van Hollen as he was elected governor in 2018 with more than 55 percent of the vote in the Democrat state.
