The Pentagon confirmed a recent strike targeting ISIS-K members actually killed two terrorists in Afghanistan. In a statement on Friday, U.S. Central Command initially reported that an unmanned airstrike in the Nangarhar Province killed one ISIS-K member. There is no known civilian casualties.

In a briefing on Saturday, officials said the strike took out two high-profile planners and wounded another.

The over-the-horizon counterterrorism operation comes after the terrorist group claimed responsibility for the deadly bombing outside the Kabul airport that took the lives of 13 U.S. service members. Following the attack, Joe Biden vowed “we will hunt you down and make you pay.”

In the meantime, the U.S. military has yet to comment on whether the targets were directly connected to Thursday’s terror attack. Additionally, Maj. Gen. Hank Taylor warned Americans to stay away from the Kabul airport.

“Because of security threats at the Kabul airport, we continue to advise U.S. citizens to avoid traveling to the airport and to avoid airport gates.”

Officials said the evacuation mission continues with 1,400 individuals screened for flights out of Kabul on Saturday. Over the last 24 hours, a total of 66 flights have taken 6,800 evacuees out of the city with a total evacuation number of more than 117,000.
