The mayor of Rochester, New York declared a state of emergency due to the ongoing gun violence throughout the city.

Mayor Lovely Warren made the emergency declaration on Friday, citing “unprecedented levels of gun violence” in Rochester and later vowing to address the issue in a “holistic” manner. The move comes after three more homicides occurred on Thursday, marking the 71st homicide this year to date.

The declaration will bring additional resources to the city’s police department to help identify and arrest perpetrators of gun violence.

“The idea is to hold people accountable for their actions without casting a wide net,” said Interim Rochester Police Chief David Smith. “This is not a zero-tolerance measure, but an expansion of our surgical efforts to identify and arrest known violent offenders in our community.”

City officials have asked residents to get involved and report any illegal activity in their communities while the city grapples with the surging violence throughout the region.

Jus’ another black Democrat city w/o direction. A lost city that is typical of the corrupt leadership promoted by grifters. This article could have been from any city as they all say the same thing. We’re gonna look into how these kids grow up and their influencers, etc. That’s not what is needed. Build a warehouse and change the law ANY crime committed with a firearm gets a life sentence. No deals, No earlies. No rights. These kids think prison is a desirable place to go to build up their cred. Ridiculous. Nothing will change until society treats these animals for what they are.
