Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said it’s been an emotional couple of days, saying thousands of Afghan allies and hundreds of American citizens are being left behind in Afghanistan. In an interview on Sunday, Graham said while Joe Biden intended to take Afghanistan off the plate for future presidents, he’s done the exact opposite for the next 20 years.
The South Carolina lawmaker said Biden should be facing a lot of consequences. Graham added he wouldn’t have completely withdrawn troops, but instead would have kept some forces on the ground.
“I would have kept the counterterrorism forces on the ground. Your reporter indicated that when we have people on the ground working with indigenous forces, that’s the best insurance policy against another 9/11.”
“Joe Biden’s fingerprints are all over this,” Sen. Graham (R-SC) says, arguing the president “deserves a lot of accountability for this”: “He’s created the conditions for ISIS to flourish in Afghanistan. They have doubled the number of troops available because of the jail break.” pic.twitter.com/9dn88YQ8UX

Graham warned officials not to recognize the Taliban as a legitimate government, saying it would only embolden other terrorists. He noted he’s never been more worried about another terrorist attack on the U.S. than he is right now.
