Republican Sen. Pat Toomey (Pa.) said Democrats held a political advantage by continually bringing up the January 6 investigation. In an interview on Sunday, the Pennsylvania lawmaker added he supported a “truly bipartisan” Senate investigation into the January demonstration.
Toomey noted the investigation by a House commission was not meant to be bipartisan. He cited Democrat political consultant James Carville, who Toomey argued has been candid about keeping the protest in the forefront of discussions.
“He’s urged the Democrats, don’t let the election be about Joe Biden and his policies in 2022,” he stated. “Make that election about January 6 and Donald Trump.”
Unless Speaker Pelosi reverses course and seats all five Republican nominees, Republicans will not be party to their sham process and will instead pursue our own investigation of the facts.

Toomey went on to say it was clear Democrats had an incentive to drive a political message and a purely partisan House commission would likely do that.
