Chaos erupted after the Loudoun County, Virginia School Board unexpectedly cut their meeting short after allowing comments from only 50 of the 250 parents who were slated to speak.

On Tuesday night, hundreds of parents flooded the end of the year school board meeting in protest of their curriculum. The abrupt end to comments led to backlash from the hundreds of parents who had shown up to voice their concerns about critical race theory and other left wing beliefs being taught in schools.

The district has been in the news over the last few weeks, starting with the suspension of physical education teacher Byron Cross for refusing to use students’ preferred gender pronouns. Shortly after, a mother compared her experience growing up in communist China to what the school board was doing

“You are now teaching, training our children to be social justice warriors, and to loathe our country and our history,” stated Xi Van Fleet, a concerned parent. “Ground up in Mao’s China, all this seems very familiar. The communist regime used the same critical theory to divide people. the only difference is they used class, instead of race.”

These events led to the meeting with hundreds of parents primed to speak out.

“When I heard that teachers and students were having critical race theory shoved down their throats and young white kids were being told that there was something wrong with them because of the color of their skin, I became very concerned,” commented another concerned parent.

The majority of those inside the meeting, however, were unable to voice their opinions once the floor was closed early. After around a fifth of the parents had spoken, the board abruptly adjourned the meeting and walked out of the room. They left sheriff’s deputies to disperse the crowd. The board reportedly reconvened later in the evening in an empty meeting room.
