One student has been taken into custody after police responded to reports of an active shooting at a school in Texas. Multiple agencies arrived to the school in southwest Houston on Friday, where they say a male sustained a gunshot wound to the back and has been taken to the hospital in serious condition.

The victim, an administrator, is reportedly undergoing surgery. There were no students injured.

Police said a 25-year-old former student shot through a glass door with a rifle and fired upon one of the school employees. The suspect surrendered without incident once police made it inside.

Officials said they were proud of the quick response from officers and that the situation could have been a lot worse. Police are encouraging counseling to anybody involved and want to make sure it’s provided.
