A military base in Texas implemented a mandatory lockdown following reports of shots fired. Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland was placed on high alert Wednesday afternoon after reports of two shots fired outside the base.

JBSA and emergency responders worked with the San Antonio Police Department to clear the area and search for potential shooters. Trainees evacuated the area and a shelter-in-place order was put in place.

No injuries were reported and the lockdown is now lifted, but sheriffs are patrolling the area for any suspects.

“We are trying to investigate a couple of leads right now to confirm gun shots actually did take place on the installation,” Lt. Col. Brian Loveless reported. “We do have a couple leads on what occurred that we are investigating right now.”

Authorities remain unclear whether anyone saw a shooter or if more than one person was involved.
