A provincial government directive has made it illegal in Nova Scotia to gather alongside the interprovincial highway in support of truckers participating in the so-called “Freedom Convoy” protesting vaccine mandates.
According to Canadian outlet True North News, the directive claims that “allowing people to gather in those areas would put themselves and others at risk.”
“Although called a ‘Highway Blockade Ban’ on the government’s press release, and is nominally directed towards ‘prohibiting protesters from blockading Highway 104 near the Nova Scotia-New Brunswick border,’ the ban also covers supporters of trucking convoys,” the report explained.
“The directive also applies to people who stop or gather alongside Highway 104, the Nova Scotia-New Brunswick border, or at the Cobequid Pass toll area in support of the 2022 Freedom Convoy, the Atlantic Hold the Line event, or others organized to interfere with traffic,” the news release said. “Allowing people to gather in those areas would put themselves and others at risk.”
Fines can reach $10,000 for individuals and $100,000 for corporations, True North reported.
Famed Canadian psychologist and bestselling author Jordan Peterson posted about the directive via his Twitter account.
“This has truly crossed a line,” he said. “What the hell are you thinking @TimHoustonNS? How dare you make it illegal for Canadians to express their political opinions? Your actions have crossed the line into outright political illegitimacy. Beware.”

As highlighted by The Daily Wire, a GoFundMe fund organized to support the Canadian truckers has brought in a stunning $7.8 million — and is still climbing.
The funds for the account were frozen Tuesday by GoFundMe, though two days later a reported $1 million of the money had been released.
“We have some great news to share with all of you! We have received confirmation that GoFundMe has released our first batch of funds and is initiating our first transfer,” fundraiser cofounder Dichter posted in a GoFundMe update. “We can’t thank you enough for your patience.”
“Sadly, the legacy media felt it was necessary to publish news articles implying that GoFundMe had frozen our funds for a variety of outrageous reasons,” the post said, adding, “For our case, because of the overwhelming donations we have received, and we are currently the 8th fastest growing campaign in their history, the constant attempts by activists to flag our campaign as illegitimate exacerbated the already tedious process.”
“The team at GoFundMe have been amazing to work with and we are very appreciative of their support,” Dichter said.
The GoFundMe, in part, reads: “Our current government is implementing rules and mandates that are destroying the foundation of our businesses, industries and livelihoods. Canadians have been integral to the fabric of humanity in many ways that have shaped the planet.”
“We are a peaceful country that has helped protect nations across the globe from tyrannical governments who oppressed their people, and now it seems it is happening here,” the account continues. “We are taking our fight to the doorsteps of our Federal Government and demanding that they cease all mandates against its people. Small businesses are being destroyed, homes are being destroyed, and people are being mistreated and denied fundamental necessities to survive. It’s our duty as Canadians to put an end to this [sic] mandates. It is imperative that this happens because if we don’t our country will no longer be the country we have come to love. We are doing this for our future Generations and to regain our lives back.”
