Country singer Sam Hunt’s wife, Hannah Lee Fowler, has filed for divorce due to infidelity. The “Body Like a Back Road” singer hadn’t formerly announced the couple was having a baby. However, divorce documents reveal that Fowler is due with their first child in May 2022.
According to documents obtained by TMZ, the divorce paperwork says Hunt is “guilty of inappropriate marital conduct,” and also says the singer is “guilty of adultery.” Fowler filed the paperwork in Tennessee, a no-fault divorce state.
The document doesn’t specify if the couple had a prenuptial agreement. However, some wording in the filing suggests they may have had one as Fowler asked that “’the parties be awarded their respective separate property.”
Hunt and Fowler have been married for five years. She allegedly requested, “transitional alimony, rehabilitative alimony, and alimony in future,” in the document.
The couple got engaged in January 2017 after 10 years of dating on and off, Daily Mail reported.
Fowler has also apparently served as inspiration for Hunt’s hit song lyrics. In the Grammy nominee’s song “Drinkin’ Too Much,” Hunt says, “Hannah Lee, I’m on my way to you/ Nobody can love you like I do.”
Hunt played football in both high school and as a quarterback at the University of Alabama, Birmingham before attempting a professional sports career. Then his plans changed after signing a contract with MCA Nashville in 2014. The singer started attracting more and more followers after the studio debut of “Montevallo,” which was named after the Alabama town where Hunt and Fowler first met.
The singer really hit the big time with “Body Like a Back Road” in 2021. The single spent more than thirty weeks at the top of Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart, breaking the record for the longest-running number one hit after reaching twenty-five consecutive weeks.
Hunt pleaded guilty to two counts of DUI after getting arrested for driving under the influence and having an open container in 2019.
The Daily Mail reported that the singer’s jail sentence of 11 months and 29 days was suspended except for 48 hours, which Hunt agreed to serve at the DUI Education Centers rather than jail. He also agreed to complete an alcohol education course and surrender his driver’s license for one year. After he gets his license reinstated, he’ll need to have an interlock device installed on it.
The singer apologized to fans with a social media post following the incident.
“Wednesday night I decided to drive myself home after drinking at a friend’s show in downtown Nashville,” Hunt tweeted at the time. “It was a poor and selfish decision and I apologize to everyone who was unknowingly put at risk and let down by it. It won’t happen again.”
According to Billboard, Hunt was reportedly driving down the wrong way of Ellington Parkway in Nashville with two open containers when he got pulled over.
