Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis’ re-election campaign has launched a Spanish language public service announcement warning voters that progressive billionaire George Soros is meddling in the gubernatorial race.

According to the campaign, the spot “denounces a George Soros purchase of Hispanic radio stations meant to disinform the community.”

“The Spanish-language ‘Alerta’ ad was submitted to run on Miami radio stations (WAQI-AM and WQBA-AM) and warns listeners of the leftist motives behind his media ventures,” a statement from DeSantis’ campaign said. “WAQI-AM and WQBA-AM were recently announced as part of the Soros-backed acquisition of Spanish Language radio.”

The Latino Media Network, a newly-created group of 18 Hispanic radio stations, is partially funded by the investment group Lakestar Finance, which according to Fox News, is affiliated with Soros Fund Management.

The DeSantis campaign provided The Daily Wire with an English translation of the 60-second PSA.

“WARNING VOTERS!” the transcript says. “The Left is taking control of our local media.”

“Billionaire George Soros, known for financing extreme leftist causes, is now financing the purchase of Hispanic radio stations right here in Miami. Soros teamed up with Biden supporters to buy this station from TelevisaUnivision.”

“They are coming with their ideological agenda,” it continues. “Soros and his minions know what this community represents in the fight against socialism in America. This community will not get confused.”

“Under Governor Ron DeSantis’ leadership Florida is standing against the corporate media and leftist disinformation.”

In May, the governor’s re-election campaign announced “a $5.3 million statewide investment in Spanish-language cable, broadcast, and radio channels, as well as on digital, with an emphasis on the Miami-Dade and Orlando media markets.”

The campaign also noted the state’s conservative growth in recent years. Since 2020, Florida Republicans have out-registered Florida Democrats by 1,300 new voter registrations in Miami-Dade County.

“Spanish-speaking Hispanics in Florida and across the country are moving toward Governor Ron DeSantis because of his emphasis on economic opportunity, education, public safety, and other family-focused policies,” Team DeSantis said in a statement. “This is our first media investment of the campaign, proving the importance we are placing on sharing our freedom agenda with Spanish-speaking voters across the state of Florida.”

Based on current polling in Florida, DeSantis leads by an average of 8.8% in head-to-head competition with Democratic challenger Charlie Crist in a survey by RealClearPolitics.
