Daily Wire Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro sharply criticized President Joe Biden’s coddling of Iran vis-à-vis the Iran nuclear deal while warning of the rapidly deteriorating situation in Iraq, noting that Biden’s policies toward Iran will turn Iraq into a “full-scale Iranian proxy.”

On Tuesday, Shapiro began by showing footage of American helicopters evacuating the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad. Then he turned to a report in the Jerusalem Post that outlined the apparent deal Biden is willing to make with the largest state sponsor of terrorism on the planet, Iran’s despotic and theocratic government.

Shapiro pointed out Biden’s desperation to make a deal with a government that sees the deal as a hudna, a temporary stopgap maneuver as part of a long-term plan to develop nuclear weapons and upgrade their military weaponry.

“Joe Biden is going to give all of that to them,” Shapiro declared. “What’s happening in Iraq, in order to understand that, you have to understand what Joe Biden is doing in Iran right now; he’s attempting to basically surrender to Iran.”

Shapiro quoted the Post’s report that asserted various steps likely inherent in the nuclear deal, including the U.S. removing all secondary sanctions on Iran and agreed-upon terrorist designations, the U.S. lifting the conventional arms embargo on Iran 165 days into the deal, limitations on advanced centrifuges research and development starting to expire in 2024 and the “SnapBack sanctions” mechanism, which would permit reimplementation of sanctions if Iran violates the deal, expiring in 2025.

“So I noticed that the calendar now says it is 2022, so in other words limitations on advanced centrifuges disappear under this deal,” Shapiro noted. “In 2025 all the snapback sanctions disappear. In 2026, the limitations on using centrifuges, including advanced ones, begin to expire. By 2030, the Iran deal expires entirely.”

“This means that that Iran has the capacity to take in as much money as it could possibly want for everything,” Shapiro said. “And what the United States and its allies received in return is effectively nothing, effectively zero things because time continues to march forward and Iran continues to march forward. This is just madness.”

Shapiro pointed out that Iran’s Shiite government would delight in dominating the Shia majority in Iraq. In early August, Foreign Policy noted of Iraqi Shiite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr, the leader of the bloc with the largest number of seats in Iraq’s parliament, “His chief inspiration is perhaps Iran’s founder and most famous supreme leader, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini.”

“What we are watching right now is a slow-motion collapse in Iraq that is going to eventually make it into a full-scale Iranian proxy,” Shapiro warned. “It’s already sort of a quasi-Iranian proxy; it would be a full-scale Iranian proxy.”

“Meanwhile, Joe Biden is going to continue subsidizing the Iranian government to build up its arsenal in Iraq, in Syria, in Lebanon, in Yemen,” he warned. “It’s unbelievable what he’s doing in the Middle East. I mean, he’s generating war in the Middle East single-handedly right now through his Iranian deal.”
