A female skateboarder who finished second to a male competitor who identifies as a woman ripped the company sponsoring the competition for allegedly ignoring her plea to be placed first.
Taylor Silverman said she competed in the Red Bull Cornerstone Contest, where she finished second to skateboarder Lillian Gallagher. It was not clear when the alleged event took place.
“I reached out to Redbull and was ignored,” Silverman wrote on Instagram. “I am sick of being bullied into silence.”
Silverman won first prize at the Red Bull Cornerstone Detroit Women’s Finals on November 7, 2021; the next day Gallagher won first prize at the Red Bull Cornerstone Milwaukee Women’s Finals, and Gallagher again won first prize at the Red Bull Cornerstone Minneapolis Women’s Finals later that month.
“My name is Taylor Silverman. I am a female athlete,” Silverman’s post began. “I have been skateboarding for eleven years and competing for several years. I have been in three different contests with trans women, two of which I placed second.”
“At the last contest series I did for Redbull, I placed second,” she recalled. “The trans competitor who won took $1000 in qualifiers, $3000 in finals, and $1000 in best trick. This totaled to $5000 of the prize money meant for the female athletes.”
“I took $1000 in qualifiers and $1750 for second place, so $2750 in total,” she noted. “The girl who took third received $750.The girl who deserved $1000 for best trick took nothing along with whoever would have placed third.”
“I deserved to be place (sic) first, be acknowledged for my win and get paid,” she contended. “I reached out to Redbull and was ignored. I am sick of being bullied into silence.”
Silverman posted a message to Redbull Senior Sports Marketing Manager Erich Dummer on Instagram. She wrote, “A biological man with a clear advantage won the women’s division, best trick, and also won multiple qualifiers. This took away the opportunity that was meant for women to place and earn money.”
“What happened was unfair and at the time I was too uncomfortable to speak up,” she continued. “I understand that in todays [sic] society even some women think this is acceptable, but I believe in doing the right thing even if it’s not the popular thing. I now realize it’s really important for me to speak up and I’d like to schedule a time to talk.”
The movement protesting biological men competing in women’s sports was accentuated last December when University of Pennsylvania swimmer Lia Thomas utterly crushed the women competing with Thomas at the University of Akron’s Zippy Invitational, winning the 1650 free by a gargantuan 38 seconds ahead of the young woman finishing second, winning the 500 free by a whopping 12 seconds ahead of the woman finishing second, and winning the 200 free by a still-huge seven seconds, setting new Penn records along with meet and pool records.
Video of Thomas winning the 1650 free showed how lopsided the race was with Thomas, who swam competitively for the men’s team for three years before switching to the women’s team, leaving female swimmers looking as if they were not even in the same race.
Just to show you how absurd this is. Here’s the trans swimmer “Lia” Thomas crushing all of the female competitors by 40 seconds. This is what that looks like in real time. A total farce.
