NBA star Andrew Wiggins said Monday that he still wished he hadn’t gotten the COVID vaccine so he could play last year.
During the Golden State Warriors’ appearance on FanSided, in a video posted on YouTube Monday, the professional basketball player said the fact that he got to play with the team and go all the way to win the NBA title is the “good part” about him deciding to get the COVID-19 vaccine. But made it clear it wasn’t his choice and it was something he was forced to do otherwise he wouldn’t have gotten to play. It comes at the 7:47 minute mark here.
“I still wish I didn’t get it,” the Warriors’ player admitted. “To be honest with you. You know, you gotta do what you gotta do.”
“I did it and, you know, I was All-Star this year,” he added. “And, you know, champion. So that was the good part. Just not missing out on the year…the best year of my career.”
“But for my body, I just don’t like putting all that stuff in my body,” Wiggins continued. “So, I didn’t like that. And I didn’t like that it wasn’t my choice. You know, I didn’t like that. You know, it was either get this or don’t play.”
In October 2021, the professional player talked about how he had only two choices when it came to playing in the league before the season started. At that was either, “get vaccinated or not play in the NBA,” as The Daily Wire previously reported.
“It was a tough decision,” Wiggins told the press at the time. “Hopefully, it works out in the long run and in 10 years I’m still healthy.”
“It feels good to play, but getting vaccinated, that’s going to be something that stays in my mind for a long time,” he added. “It’s not something I wanted to do, but I was kind of forced to.”
