On Friday, President Joseph Biden introduced newly confirmed Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson. During his address, Biden claimed that Jackson was put through a litany of difficult questions and unfair treatment, including the “most vile baseless assertions and accusations” during her Senate hearing.

“I knew it wouldn’t be easy, but I knew the person I nominated would be put through a painful and difficult confirmation process,” Biden told a mix of media and fellow Democrats.

“But I have to tell you, what Judge Jackson was put through was well beyond that. It was verbal abuse. The anger, with constant interruptions, the most vile baseless assertions and accusations,” he claimed.

“In the face of it all, Judge Jackson showed the incredible character and integrity she possesses,” the president added.

It is unclear what Biden was referencing specifically, as many believed that the most contentious points of her confirmation process were when she was asked to define the word “woman” as well as when she was asked for explanations regarding perceived lenient sentencing for child pornography cases.

In response, many expressed their confusion via Twitter.

“Apparently Biden was watching the Kavanaugh hearings and thought it was Judge Jackson,” political consultant Ryan James Girdusky tweeted in reference to Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s hearings where he was accused of committing a sexual assault and other egregious behavior in high school and college.

Vice President Kamala Harris, who was a senator at the time of Kavanaugh’s hearing, was one of the Democratic leaders who grilled Kavanaugh over the accusations, even saying she believed his accuser.

In September 2019, Harris also said that Kavanaugh should be impeached due to new allegations that surfaced in a book at that time against the justice. During one interview with NPR in 2019, Harris said, “I voted against his confirmation because it was clear to me he lied under oath. And I think we all know he did.”

Biden also has a sordid history of launching unsavory accusations against GOP Supreme Court nominees during their confirmation hearings.

As The Daily Wire has previously noted, during his confirmation hearings for the Supreme Court in 1991, Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas was infamously targeted by then-Senator Joe Biden (D-DE) and Senator Ted Kennedy (D-MA) over accusations against him of sexual impropriety against a colleague, Anita Hill.

At that time, Thomas fired back:

This is a circus. It’s a national disgrace. And from my standpoint, as a black American, it is a high-tech lynching for uppity blacks who in any way deign to think for themselves, to do for themselves, to have different ideas, and it is a message that unless you kowtow to an old order, this is what will happen to you. You will be lynched, destroyed, caricatured by a committee of the U.S. Senate rather than hung from a tree.

Jackson will take her seat after Justice Stephen Breyer officially steps down at the end of the court’s current session, which is usually in June.
