Actor Johnny Depp on Friday broke into laughter when an attorney for ex-wife Amber Heard asked a bodyguard testifying virtually if he saw Mr. Depp’s penis.
Depp is suing Heard for more than $50 million over an op-ed she wrote at The Washington Post about domestic violence, which the actor claims significantly hurt his Hollywood career.
“I think I would remember if I’d seen Mr. Depp’s penis,” bodyguard Malcolm Connolly said via Zoom testimony.
Depp put his hand on his forehead and giggled in reaction to Connolly’s response, footage from the courtroom shows.
Heard’s defense team was highlighting an apparent incident involving Depp urinating in the foyer of the couple’s home in Australia back in 2015, the Daily Mail outlined.
Notably, people packed into the courtroom to watch the trial also laughed at the exchange.
There’s been a host of Depp fans packing the courtroom, or waiting outside with supportive signs, seeing if they can snag a photo or glimpse of the actor. The noticeable Depp-support was highlighted by The New York Times as so-called courtroom “Stan” culture.
“A frenzied scene materializes four days a week at the Fairfax County Courthouse in Virginia as fans seek seats at the defamation trial between Johnny Depp and his ex-wife Amber Heard,” the Times reported. “The line to enter the courthouse begins before sunrise. Throughout the day, people appear carrying signs, wearing fan merch and costumes, even walking a pair of alpacas. Nearly all of them are there for Mr. Depp.”
“We just want to support our captain,” a 20-year-old Depp fan told the newspaper. “If he goes down with the ship, we’re going down with him.”
While Depp seems to be earning support from fans, at least, Heard has taken a hit in the court of public opinion.
For example, “Aquaman” fans are protesting the inclusion of Heard in “Aquaman 2,” according to a new petition. “The change.org document garnered more than 2 million signatures demanding that Heard, who plays Princess Mera in the Warner Brothers superhero sequel, be removed from the project,” The Daily Wire reported Friday.
Notably, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) this past week shockingly admitted that the organization “ghostwrote Heard’s 2018 Washington Post op-ed in which she claimed to be a victim of domestic violence and timed it to coincide with the release of her movie, ‘Aquaman,’” The Daily Wire noted.
